Northern portion of the Indian Subcontinent, Arabian Peninsula and north-east Africa, extending southwards to Northern Kenya; appears to be most frequent in Yemen. J.E.T. Aitchinson 521 (K) is said to be from Afghanistan but this may be an error. Occurs in grassland, bushland and open woodland on silty, sandy or stony soil, 0-1500 m elevation.
