Glabrous erect perennial herb, ± 2 dm. tall. Tubers ovoid, 1.5 cm. long and 1 cm. in diameter; roots slender, apparently glabrous. Stem rather slender, ± 5 mm. in diameter. Leaves 5–6, the lower 2 reduced to tight sheaths, the upper 1 or 2 similar to the bracts, the middle 2 much larger, ± erect, oblanceolate, obtuse or acute, subcordate, the lower of the 2 larger 9–11 cm. long and 2.5–3.5 cm. broad, the upper 6–8 cm. long and 1.5–2 cm. broad. Inflorescence 4–6.5 cm. long, 2–2.5 cm. in diameter, rather closely 7–11-flowered. Bracts erect or deflexed, lanceolate, acute, 1.3–2.2 cm. long, 3–5 mm. broad. Flowers clear-green, erect; mature pedicellate ovary slender, glabrous, up to 1.3 cm. long. Sepals 7–8 mm. long, 4.5 mm. wide, slightly hemispherical, oval when flattened. Petals semi-orbicular, 4–5 mm. in diameter, interior margin completely adnate to margins of dorsal sepal to form a hood.
