Stems rather slender, closer together on the rhizome. Leaves narrower, upper scarcely 1/8 in. broad, very erect. Inflorescence usually reduced to 1 or 2 subterminal heads. Spikelets oblong-ellipsoid, about 1/6 in. broad, brownish. Glumes appearing more or less distinctly 5-ranked; otherwise as F. pubescens .
