General Description

Dioecious, tufted or tangled perennial, 200-400 mm tall. Fertile culms sparingly branched, with tufts of woolly hair in axils, slender, smooth or roughly warty, sheaths tightly rolled around culm, orange or reddish brown, often with a coppery sheen. Male

Habitat

Light seeps and moist slopes in renosterveld.

Distribution

Kamiesberg Mountains, Hantamsberg and Roggeveld Escarpment through to SW Cape and Swartberg Mountains.
