General Description

plant about 1 ft. high; stem moderately stout; leaves cauline, erect, oblong, acute, 2–3 in. long, submembranous; scapes about 1 ft. high, with a few broad acuminate sheaths above; spikes about 2 in. long, somewhat lax, about 6-flowered; bracts oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, 3/4–1 in. long; pedicels about 3/4 in. long; flowers rather large, submembranous, purple or pale pink; dorsal sepal galeate, broadly ovate, apiculate or subobtuse, 6–7 lin. long; spur cylindrical, straight, subobtuse, 8–9 lin. long; lateral sepals narrowly ovate, apiculate, 6–7 lin. long; petals ovate, acute or shortly acuminate, 5–6 lin. long; lip oblong-lanceolate, acute, 5–6 lin. long; column short; anther reclinate; rostellum 3-lobed; stigma pulvinate.
